About Our Program

MAPS PSO supports our members’ efforts to promote a positive culture of safety. We also take pride in the successful efforts of individuals and healthcare teams that go above and beyond to keep their patients safe. The MAPS PSO Patient Safety Champion Program honors individuals and teams that prevent patients from experiencing an adverse event.

Patient Safety Champions:

  • Identify potential patient safety errors to prevent incidents and adverse events from occurring
  • Implement strategies that reduce risk and prevent patient safety events from recurring
  • Lead colleagues to practice safe patient care
  • Go above and beyond their role in safe care practices

Ambassadors of Patient Safety

In addition to the Patient Safety Champion Award, we also accept nominations for Patient Safety Ambassadors. This award allows us to recognize individuals whose actions show a strong foundation of patient safety and a passion for preventing patient harm every day.

Patient Safety Ambassadors:

  • Are change agents
  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to systematic change
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient safety
  • Exemplify and promote the safety culture

Selection Process

Recipients will be selected based on their nomination submission. Nominations for the current year will close on Sept. 30. Nominations submitted on Oct. 1 or after will be considered for the following year.
