National COVID-19 Update

Current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) figures show more than 1.48 million confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. in 55 states and U.S. territories, with 89,407 deaths. New York state leads the nation with more than 347,000 cases, followed by New Jersey which has more than 146,000 cases. There are 29 states reporting more than 10,000 cases of COVID-19.
A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Clinician Outreach and Communication Activity (COCA) call on May 19 from 1-2:30 p.m. CT will discuss the clinical characteristics of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, how cases have been diagnosed and treated, and how clinicians are responding to recently reported cases associated with COVID-19. The latest WHO situation report shows more than 4.61 million COVID-19 cases globally, with over 311,000 deaths. The Region of the Americas (includes the U.S.) now leads the world with more than 2 million cases and over 121,000 deaths. The European Region, is second with more than 1.89 million cases and more than 167,000 deaths.
