Illinois COVID-19 Update

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 3,239 new COVID-19 cases and 138 deaths. The total number of cases in the state is 87,937 in 99 counties, with a total of 3,928 deaths. IDPH says that in the past 24 hours, 22,678 specimens have been processed. Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations in the past 24 decreased from 4,563 patients to 4,473 patients. Of that figure, 1,132 patients are in ICU with 689 patients on ventilators. The state has a COVID-19 positivity rate of 17% (May 4-11).
