As a hospital community, your efforts to advance health equity are having a significant impact on your patients, staff and communities you serve. Members have shared the importance of peer-to-peer learning—and that’s what this complimentary, three-part webinar series will offer. By attending, you’ll hear from hospital and health system leaders across the state about their successful health equity initiatives. IHA quality improvement (QI) experts will also present a QI framework and step-by-step approach that your organization can use to replicate the initiatives presented. 

Webinars 1 and 2 will feature hospital leaders and staff discussing their health equity initiatives, with a focus on implementation and key strategies. In webinar 3, IHA experts will guide you through the QI framework that can be used to create a strategic action plan. We will center the QI approach on the four domains in the IHA Racial Equity in Healthcare Progress Report—Our People, Our Patients, Our Organization and Our Community. At the end of the series, you will have a blueprint for implementing health equity initiatives in your organization.

May 20 – Session 1: Health Equity in Action – Hospital Spotlights: This session will spotlight hospital initiatives from Riverside Healthcare and Cook County Health, with time for questions and discussion from participants.

Speakers

Christina Boyd, MPH, CPHQ, IHA Director, Quality, Safety and Health Policy
Boyd has over 14 years of experience in hospital associations, working to advance quality and health outcomes in Illinois hospitals. In her current role, Boyd is responsible for leading and coordinating quality and patient safety initiatives to support the implementation of improvement processes and improve member performance. She is the lead for various federal, state and local quality improvement projects, as well as the topic lead for patient and family engagement and EMS operations and policy development.  

Lisa Harries, IHA Assistant Vice President, Health Equity and Policy
Harries focuses on developing, evaluating and implementing policy proposals and advocacy strategies to address healthcare disparities and inequities in Illinois hospitals. She has extensive experience in leading efforts to advance health equity in partnership with health systems, community-based organizations and community members. She is IHA’s first leader completely dedicated to leading IHA’s health equity initiatives.      

Jenny Winkler, MPH, CIC, CPPS, IHA Senior Director, Quality, Safety and Health Policy
With over 14 years of experience in healthcare, Winkler has extensive knowledge and expertise in the areas of infection prevention, patient safety, quality improvement and project management. Through IHA’s Institute in Innovations in Care and Quality, she works with hospitals to support and enhance their patient safety and quality work.
