New Data Coordinators

As a data coordinator, you have an important role in ensuring your facility’s data is accurate and complete for submission. Over 10 million clean records are processed through COMPdata each year. We want to make sure new data coordinators are successful in maintaining data integrity. That’s one of our top priorities—making sure data is validated and of the highest quality and accuracy. Our joint efforts result in our database reflecting the true conditions in your hospital.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Our team is dedicated to giving you the right tools and information for success in your new role using our HIPAA-compliant data submission system. Each facility must have a primary and back-up data coordinator. Individuals in this role are responsible for:

  • Submitting your hospital’s complete, error-free data each quarter.
  • Transmitting your data transmission via COMPdata’s secure internet electronic file transfer system.
  • Reviewing data collection feedback reports and the percentage of data reported.
  • Correcting rejected records and resubmitting to COMPdata.
  • Ensuring monthly reported discharge counts are entered 21-30 days after the end of each month.
  • Reviewing carefully the Data Quality Summary Report ensuring data elements reported are accurately portrayed and of the highest quality.

Please note: For health systems, one primary user is designated for each facility in the system. Primary users must contact COMPdata immediately for any change in status—such as separation of employment or a change in job responsibilities—to ensure inactive accounts are removed from our system.

Essential Forms

Use these forms to request access to COMPdata or update your account information. Primary data coordinators must submit written authorization from your facility's CEO or authorized designee.

We're here to help get you in your new role as data coordinator. Contact us at customerservice@team-iha.org or (866) 262-6222 with any questions.
