With incidence of violence against healthcare workers increasing in recent years, hospitals are actively seeking ways to ensure the safety of all patients, staff and visitors on their premises. A result of the improvement plan from IHA’s 2023 Emergency Preparedness Exercise on violence in healthcare, this webinar will delve into the Essentials of Aggression Management (EoAM). EoAM is a comprehensive program that trains healthcare workers to recognize and defuse aggressive behavior before it becomes violent.

The webinar will focus on the following elements of EoAM:

  • The EoAM aggression continuum identifying six behavioral changes between calm and physically violent.

  • Practical de-escalation and self-defense techniques at each level of the aggression continuum.

  • Positive recovery from incidents of workplace violence.

  • Identify the different stages of the Essentials of Aggression Management aggression continuum.
